October is a beautiful month to visit Kielder.
The colours are changing to golds, rusts and red and there's a cosy feeling all around.
It's red squirrel season, so keep your eyes peeled for them feeding on the nuts and seeds that have dropped to the forest floor. Thank you to Brian Clasper for this wonderful photograph.
Kielder Marathon is our big event of the month. Whether you’re a runner, a cyclist or a spectator, come and join us on the 4th and 5th of October. The Altra Kielder Marathon is the finale to a weekend of events, starting with the 10K & Gravel Duathlon on Saturday, followed by the Half Marathon and Junior races on Sunday.
There are still a few places so get onto kieldermarathon.com to sign up for this fantastic fifteenth anniversary race.
There’s also lots to see, people to meet and plenty of nice things to eat and drink. See you there!
Kielder Observatory is filling up fast as the dark nights get darker and Aurora season begins. Don't miss out and make sure you book your tickets in advance here.
Kielder Bird of Prey Centre at Kielder Waterside is open every day, with flying sessions at 1.30 and 3pm - no need to book!
October is the last chance to bring your dog along to our Wallace & Gromit trail, which closes on the 25th, but we'd love to see you - and your furry friends everywhere else anytime!
