Kielder, along with other places in the north east, was one of the filming locations for new film 28 Years Later, directed by Danny Boyle.

Filming took place last year at Kielder landmarks including Kielder Dam, Kielder Lewisburn Bridge, East Kielder Farmhouse along with the forest itself and the Lonesome Pine MTB trail.

The filming was supported by Forestry England, with Alex McLennan, Forestry England’s Northumberland Recreation, Public Affairs Manager and his team working closely with the filming team.

“Danny Boyle is passionate about forestry and wanted to really get under the skin of how England’s largest forest operates. The team got and respected the industry side of forestry and, at all times, ensured minimal disruption to the working forest”.

Alex also attended the premiere, held at Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema last Thursday night.

“It was simply amazing seeing Kielder on the big screen - better than I imagined! It was wonderful to see the forest and wider Northumberland showcased so well.

I’m telling everyone to go and see the movie and look out for Kielder - imagine those Zombies living inside the forest with 150+ million trees to keep them out of sight!”.
