This weekend’s Kielder Big Regatta and Flotilla was a fantastic success!

Participating boats were from Kielder Yacht club, Kielder water ski club, Kielder water sailing club and visiting boats from the Cape Cutter association.

There was a tremendous turn out with children as young as 9 years old on dinghys to a 93yr old yacht sailor. Calvert Kielder had a boat with wheelchair users and 10 clients on the Kielder Osprey Ferry - and there were dogs - truly an event for everyone!

The brass band serenaded the sailors and a delicious afternoon tea with scones and jam was enjoyed in the tipi.

"We had a brilliant day - it was great to see so many boats shimmering across the water and people laughing and enjoying themselves. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the event a success, particularly Northumbrian Water - their commitment to the regatta is amazing and we couldn't do it without them".

Kielder Yacht Club is always looking for more people to join and enjoy Kielder and their facilities. They operate an extensive sailing calendar with activities to keep the whole family involved - everything from a gentle sail to a secluded inlet, rafting up with friends enjoying raising a glass, to full blown regatta weekends.
