Viewpoints - Tania Kovats 1998
Type: Viewpoint
Originally two 'Viewpoints' sat on opposite shores OS Map ref. NY 658897 (South Shore) NY662903 (North shore), visible from either side, but remote destinations. Currently only the north Viewpoint at Needs Hill is still in place. Viewpoints offers a frame for the landscape and encourages a visitor to consider the experience of looking.
Road Directions
From Newcastle or Carlisle, follow the A69 to Hexham then follow the B6320 to Bellingham (brown-signed Kielder Water & Forest) and take the C200 to Kielder Water & Forest Park.
From Jedburgh/Edinburgh take the A68 south to Otterburn, then the B6320 to Bellingham and follow the brown signs to Kielder Water & Forest Park along the C200.
Kielder Castle is situated within Kielder Village and sign-posted from the C200.
Please remember to fill up your tank before you begin your journey as there are no petrol stations in the immediate Kielder Water & Forest Park area.

The north Viewpoint is sited at Need's Hill and is accessed off the Lakeside Way north shore approximately 3 1/2 miles east of Kielder village.

Parking & Transport
- Parking (charge) - It is not necessary to purchase a car parking ticket at every visitor centre you visit. Just buy one £4 ticket at your first stop off and it is valid to use at the other visitor centres throughout the whole day. Alternatively, if you only park for one hour or less, the charge will be £1.50.
