Mirage uses the patterns in the forest and the light from the water and sky to create a new destination within the trees. Five hundred pairs of shiny disks hang high in the trees in a three dimensional cloud, reflecting light from beyond the forest. Underneath the sculpture, a series of interlocking terraced decks create a resting place for visitors pausing amongst the trees to enjoy the glittering sculpture.
From Newcastle or Carlisle, follow the A69 to Hexham then follow the B6320 to Bellingham (brown-signed Kielder Water & Forest) and take the C200 to Kielder Water & Forest Park.
From Jedburgh/Edinburgh take the A68 south to Otterburn, then the B6320 to Bellingham and follow the brown signs to Kielder Water & Forest Park along the C200.
Please remember to fill up your tank before you begin your journey as there are no petrol stations in the immediate Kielder Water & Forest Park area.
Mirgare is sited along the Lakeside Way halfway between Lewisburn bridge and Bakethin Weir and is fully accessible.
From the C200 turn right off the road at the Bakethin Weir sign, park and head east along the lakeside way for about 500m.
