Solar Fun

Come and experience the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, in daytime!

 

We'll tell you more about our Dark Sky Park and show startling images and videos of the objects we can see at night. We will also tell you all about our own star, the Sun, before going outside to use our powerful, specially designed telescopes to show you the sun in all its glory, revealing massive flares coming off its surface and Sunspots.

 

We will also have some fun with rockets, using water as the fuel so no danger of an accidental explosion!

 

This event is suitable for adults and children aged over 8.

 

Did you know; from towns and cities we see just a handful of stars, but in Northumberland International Dark Sky Park we could count 2,000 at any one time!
