Hawkhirst is situated approximately 50 miles north west of Newcastle. The centre extends over 70 acres of mainly coniferous forest. Located within 200 square miles of the Kielder Forest, it is surrounded on three sides by the vast expanse of Kielder Water. With such a perfect location, it's hard to imagine anywhere more ideally suited to its purpose of providing outdoor adventures and learning. Hawkhirst Scout Activity Centre has an accommodation hostel sleeping 40 people, a self-catering lodge sleeping 12. New in 2008 is a second accommodation block sleeping 34. Hawkhirst also has camping facilities across a 70 acre forest site. Hawkhirst specialises in providing outdoor adventurous activities for Scout and Guide groups, schools and youth and community groups. Activities can range from canoeing and raft building to climbing and archery.
