Still on display at Otterburn mill are the restored 19th century water turbines and Europe’s only remaining tenterhooks, which were used for stretching and drying newly woven cloth and from which the phrase ‘on tenterhooks’ was derived.

We’re open 7 days a week for shopping, eating out and tourist information; coach parties are welcome.
