Saturn in Opposition

Overview

Saturn will be in Opposition tonight - this means that the incredible ringed planet will be passing at its closest point to Earth.
It's a fantastic time to look at Saturn and to take photographs. Come and listen to an expert astronomer speak about the planets and beyond... and ask all the questions you want to.
And then, as night falls, we will turn our powerful telescopes towards Saturn and do some detailed observing of this most majestic of planets. You will never forget the first time you see Saturn - one lady cried at Kielder Observatory when she saw the rings!
