Situated on an old Roman stone road ‘The Stanegate’ in the village of Fourstones near Hexham on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, this holiday cottage is in a great location for exploring UNESCO World Heritage Site Hadrian’s Wall Country and the surrounding area including Newcastle upon Tyne, Kielder Water and Beamish Museum – there is a lot to do in Northumberland.
There are many walks around the village and Hadrian’s Cycleway passes the front door. The village store is a short walk from the cottage and a dog-friendly pub that serves food is less than a mile away. The attractive market town of Hexham is four miles away with a wide range of shops and amenities, an Abbey, a race course and the Old Gaol, England’s first purpose-built prison, now a museum.
Stanegate Cottage is newly refurbished for 2018. It is very well equipped and furnished to VisitEngland’s 4* standard with everything you should need including a few extras like board games, books, DVDs and tourist information.
