MACBETH at Kielder Castle

MACBETH at Kielder Castle

Overview

Bellingham and District Dramatic Society (BADDS) are preparing to bring Shakespeare’s dark and supernatural tragedy to life in the ideal surroundings of Kielder Castle this September. With support from The Forestry Commission, the ancient and beautiful castle, 30 miles North-West of Hexham, will echo to the sounds of cackling hags and clashing swords from the 9th - 12th of September as the Duke of Northumberland’s former hunting lodge is transformed into the castles of Cawdor and Dunsinane. BADDS’ outdoor ‘promenade’ production will wow audiences as blood spills and heads roll in the bard’s classic tale of prophecy and power struggle. The action will commence outside the castle where the audience will then follow the players into the courtyard. Refreshments will be served in the Castle’s café and a bus service from Bellingham will be available, for those of you who choose not to drive, though there is ample parking near the Castle.
