Kielder Viaduct - 150th anniversary
New Year's Day Walk
Visitors are invited to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the spectacular Kielder Viaduct and blow away the cobwebs with a New Year's Day walk.
The viaduct was part of the Border Counties Railway line and has a fascinating history. The line from Kielder to Hexham opened 150 years ago and to celebrate, the Northumberland and Newcastle Society members are meeting for a two hour walk.
The free event starts at 11:30am at Kielder Castle and will be led by an expert forest ranger. The walk is on fairly flat land with no steep inclines but please note it will be boggy underfoot and we advise good walking shoes.
There is no need to pre-book - for enquiries call 01434 250 209 and leave a message.
Coffee and cake will be provided at the end of the walk.
