The small Village of Wark on Tyne is situated on the B6320 Bellingham road, 12 miles north of Hexham on the River North Tyne and is well placed for exploring Northumberland’s Border country, Hadrian’s Wall and Keilder Forest whether by car, cycle or on foot.
Hexham is an historic Northumbrian abbey town on the south side of the River Tyne, twenty miles west of Newcastle and has a market, theatre, museum, swimming pool and a rail link to Newcastle and Carlisle. Trains run every hour.
The bus service 880 (to Bellingham via Wark) runs hourly from Hexham bus station and outside of the railway station - ask the driver to drop you off at Battlesteads and he will stop right outside our front door!
