Before Kielder Observatory even existed, the Nightwatch Stargazing events at Kielder drew the public to see our dark skies. Gary decided the area needed an Observatory... and the rest is history!
At this event, the focus will be on Northumberland's dark skies. What can we see from our Northerly latitudes? How can you find your way around the night sky, using star maps? Learn to find naked-eye observable objects such as the Andromeda Galaxy, how to spot the Pole star, and understand the constellations.
Bring your binoculars, telescopes and cameras - we'd love to help you out with advice. And of course, we'll have our own telescopes in use - our 14" Meade refractor and 20" Newtonian reflector are fantastic crowd-pleasers!
