Kielder Observatory - Half Term Astronomy
"School holidays are here and we need things to entertain the children...
Well; why not bring them along to the Kielder Observatory for a crash course in stargazing? we will use stunning visualisations to teach the family about how our universe works, from spotting constellations to the universe itself, this night has it all. Delivered by the famed observatory delivery team with bags of knowledge and enthusiasm to entertain all ages. Learn how to use the large aperture telescopes and even operate them for yourself. See the incredible planets Jupiter and Venus too. Relax in warmth and comfort next to our log burning fire and sample our hospitality that has resulted in the observatory being the number 1 visitor attraction in Northumberland.
This night is aimed at children and families over 10 years old, as the timings are so that we can see some distant stuff...wrap and warm

Road Directions
OS map re. NY 609933
Follow the C200 road past Kielder Water towards Kielder Village. Parking at the (Skyspace signed) carpark 200m off the public road, the sculpture is a 1 mile walk up the forest road. The Observatory is a further 0.5 miles further on vehicular access is allowed to Skyspace but visitors will get a key witch are available from Kielder visitor centres, the local shop, the Anglers Arms in Kielder village and from the Calvert Trust.
Vehicular access is allowed to the Observatory for events.
From Newcastle or Carlisle, follow the A69 to Hexham then follow the B6320 to Bellingham (brown-signed Kielder Water & Forest) and take the C200 to Kielder Water & Forest Park.
From Jedburgh/Edinburgh take the A68 south to Otterburn, then the B6320 to Bellingham and follow the brown signs to Kielder Water & Forest Park along the C200.
The Observatory is situated within Kielder Forest and sign-posted from the C200.
Please remember to fill up your tank before you begin your journey as there are no petrol stations in the immediate Kielder Water & Forest Park area.
