Overview

The family friendly campsite has spacious serviced hard-standing touring pitches and private grass tent pitches with electric as well as a luxury 3-bedroom self-catering lodge with outdoor hot tub. Our range of glamping options include a variety of Wigwam cabins, some with their own private WC and outdoor hot tub and our luxurious en-suite Castle Pods with hot tub, exclusively for adults, equipped with everything you would need for a boutique stay. We are a dog friendly campsite Northumberland and have a large scenic dog walk with spectacular views.

Our 5-star Northumberland campsite is a Dark Sky Friendly Park, perfect for Northumberland stargazing. We offer BBQs, fire pits and star gazing kits for hire.

On-site is our luxury amenity block, with underfloor heating, baths and a sauna available for private hire, as well as a laundry and indoor camper’s kitchen. There is also a BBQ hut for hire. Our animal petting farm is popular with our younger guests and we have piglets, alpacas, Shetland pony, donkey and goats, as well as a range of smaller animals. Children are welcome to join in with the animal feeding twice daily. There is a children’s playground, field for ball games and a small licensed shop offering local Northumberland produce including BBQ meat and breakfast packs and a selection of Northumberland ales. In season we deliver pizzas to your touring pitch or glamping pod on a Friday evening.

Our site has a quiet site policy after 10.30pm meaning we are not suitable for large groups. Free WiFi.

Ideally located near Haltwhistle, Centre of Britain, Herding Hill makes an ideal base for a trip to Northumberland, with Kielder Forest and Water, the spectacular Northumberland coast and the Lake District all being around an hour way. The AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus stops at our campsite entrance and visits all the attractions along the wall between Hexham and Haltwhistle. Our Hadrian’s Wall campsite is ideal for those wishing to walk the Hadrian’s Wall Path or cycle the Hadrian’s Cycleway. The Roman site of Cawfields Quarry is a mile from the site.

The Milecastle Inn is a 10-minute walk from the site, serves real Northumberland ales and great home cooked food and has a scenic beer garden.
