This fabulous, architect-converted early 19th century Coach House lies in unspoilt farmland, just yards from the North Tyne river, in one of the most beautiful areas of Northumberland National Park, only 4 miles from Kielder Water and Forest with its sailing, walking, bird watching, cycling and other facilities. Furnished and maintained to a very high standard, this superbly renovated and exceptionally well-equipped property, sleeping up to 6, is in the grounds of the listed Old Rectory. Full of character, it features antique furniture, spacious reception rooms, exposed wooden beams, stripped pine floors and spectacular views. There are also original fireplaces, one of them with a wood-burning stove.

Downstairs there is a spacious and elegant Sitting Room, separate Dining Room formed from the original Coachman's living area, and Hall featuring the glazed Coach arch and staircase. The large Kitchen/Breakfast Room, redesigned in 2010, offers architect-designed units, Aga-style electric cooker, granite worktops and wooden floor. A back door lobby gives onto the well-equipped Drying/Utility Room with washer, tumble drier, new wall-mounted cupboards, boiler and drying rack. Upstairs the three bedrooms feature a deluxe king-size 6ft 6ins bed in the 1930s extension, a character double bedroom with original beams and antique brass bed, and a delightful twin-bedded room with antique wooden beds and old beams. The upstairs bathroom, furnished in old pine, with a white bathroom suite, overlooks the garden, as do all three bedrooms. Downstairs there is a newly renovated shower room with quadrant shower, basin and WC.

Equipped to the highest standards, the Coach House offers full oil-fired central heating, washing machine, drier, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, television, DVD and CD players, payphone and a cot and high chair for children. There is ample off-road parking, and steps lead from the Dining Room to the large, attractive and enclosed Old Rectory walled garden (shared use with owners) with mature shrubs, trees and lawns, all-weather tennis court and spectacular views across neighbouring fields and hills; visitors have exclusive use of the garden furniture and BBQ.

The Coach House is an ideal base from which to explore Kielder Water, Hadrian's Wall and for sailing, walking, riding, cycling and bird-watching holidays, Salmon and trout fishing locally on the North Tyne River can be arranged with the owners. There is a superb 18-hole golf course only 5 miles away. The area has abundant historical sites, stately homes and famous gardens. Excellent (in some cases award-winning) local restaurants and pubs are only minutes away in Falstone, Greenhaugh and Bellingham, and the delightful market town of Bellingham provides excellent services including shops, post office, doctors, chemist, banks, garage and Heritage Centre.

The Coach House is open all year, including Christmas and New Year. Weekend and winter short breaks are also available. Children and up to two dogs are very welcome, but our cottage is non-smoking please. Heating, electricity, bed linen, face and hand towels are all included in the tariff. The cottage is managed personally by the owners of the nearby Rectory, and visitors are assured of a warm welcome and personal attention at all times. We will be happy to send copies of our brochure giving further details of all facilities.
